Five Year Blog-iversary & Makeup Giveaway

It's true, my blog is turning five today, January 11th....01-11-11!! I like the numerology of that so I'll post this at the same hour, hehe. Eleven is a number of self-mastery and I believe that this blog has chronicled my journey for that path. I've chosen to feature my adventure as a Market America UnFranchise Distributor and the Motives line as my retailing focus, which may bore some people, but then this blog is about me, I started it with the intention of being able to review my own progress and remember my achievements, now it has evolved into a resource for many. If you're a fan or subscriber, that's great, I truly appreciate you and thank you for reading but I am considering ending the blog....please read on:

In life, there are many times that you make personal strides that only you can hold high value for and this blog reminds me of those accomplishments. I've been an introvert most of my life, incredibly shy, and an only child to a very small family. Getting in front of others to speak about my passion is the last thing I ever wanted to be doing and has been a real big milestone for me. It's a well known fact that public speaking is one of the most feared aspects in life for the vast population so you can just imagine my own reservation. I'm still working my skills and on getting re-instated as a trainer for Motives which I have to start over from scratch to do and probably attend every class again. I really miss being an active MCT and that drives me to carry on.

There have been challenges along the way with one of the biggest technical changes on this blog, besides a half dozen template changes, has been the URL being re-designated from "MarketAmericaNation" to my personal name. The MA Nation theme was born of my love for NASCAR Nation but after MA's internet policies kicked in, I had to amend it. Now it's just a re-direct to my webportal but it really trashed my statistics which were doing great. If you visit my old posts they will still show that old URL which is defunct in the search engines and acts more like a archive now for almost half of the blog.

General business and Network Marketing training has helped me a lot to evolve, I'm thankful for that and as an entrepreneur it has struck a cord in my core to strive for financial freedom with the UnFranchise business model but have had a few setbacks. I have to say that I also own a traditional business, so any headaches in the NM industry are so minor when compared to the monstrosity ones for a gas station/repair shop with used cars but they can still seem like mountains since I tend to take it more personal. Sales and recruiting are a more personal kind of industry because I have to know what people want or are looking for then I will know what to offer as a possible solution. Makes you learn the art of asking questions and being inquisitive without looking nosy.

And so, I've been strolling down memory lane reviewing old posts to see how far I've come in these past few challenging years with both personal losses of loved ones and other issues that help illustrate the true importance of the people in my life that have come and gone as friends, customers, partners and colleagues. I have to admit that I am quite envious of some of my colleagues. Only the ones that have spouses that are just as active in the home business as they are and both service customers, mentor partners, build the business and attend events. My husband is supportive but not as helpful as I'd really like him to be.

There was once a special visit by Senior VP of MA Loren Ridinger back in August 2008 and she even left a nice comment long before her blog "MyFashionCents" launched! I also can see how my personal branding has evolved and the company and product marketing has been vastly upgraded too. No stagnation there! Call me nostalgic but I learn best from the past so that I can position myself better for the future. I had a personally challenging 2010 and plan to springboard into 2011 and put all that stress behind me as I face one last hurdle that is making it difficult for me to keep blogging whole-heartedly.

With the publishing of this possibly last post I am celebrating the blog's anniversary by doing a Giveaway for a Motives Compact Beauty with the slide out trays of lipgloss that reveal 4 pretty velvety eye shadows, pictured below. The rules are easy, fellow distributors are not eligible to win to be fair to readers since you can order one for yourself but I do welcome everyone's comments!

To enter: Simply post a comment about WHY I SHOULD KEEP this blog to enter!! A random winner will be chosen on January 31st and announced here and via my Twitter and Facebook pages.
