Social Media + E-commerce = Social Commerce
I've been developing my skills as an Internet Marketer since around 2003 before social media was anything of note. E-commerce was an evolving form of business and it is constantly being integrated with new platforms and tools like mobile marketing, which is forecasted to be the next wave of commerce.
Social Commerce is a way for people to connect with their favorite brands and companies within the social networks like Facebook and Twitter. It gives the PR department, or designated employees aka social media managers, the ability to react to posts or get feedback from customers in real time. Too many people feel like the big corporations can't relate to them and this is an ingenious way for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to evolve.
I believe that Market America is fully embracing this platform and incorporating the social tools into the business model and internet presence, which is quickly becoming a new norm. MA is a people powered business, we are a network of entrepreneurs with some inspiring corporate leadership that also practices what they preach. It is one of the few examples of that in the business world. In fact, we are being taught to learn it and use it as a tool to reach out and establish ourselves as experts in our field. My own expertise in SM has even led me to give classes to local business owners and a little consulting on the side too. It's Web 3.0 and every business should claim their space.
One example of the lack of connection that is being talked about is with Amazon.com. They have a social media presence but not a system or designated strategy for public relations. I wonder if they are doing an "After The Fact" meeting to figure out how to do it now that it's an issue? Here's an interesting article that's analyzing their dilemma in depth, I found it very enlightening and intriguing as a competitor since MA's goal is to knock them out of the #1 Internet Retailer spot. Maybe Social Commerce is the magic wand for MA to hit #1 within the next 3-5 years? Hmm
It's all right in the MA slogan: "Built on Product. Powered by People"
