Nail Art For Halloween With Motives Nail Candy

After browsing some Google Images & YouTube tutorials I was inspired to do some nail art for Halloween using only Motives Nail Candy. I wanted a Goth or Vampire type look so I found a blood dripping video that inspired me to try it on my own nails.

At the recent expo almost every woman was drawn to the bold little bottles of color polish. The packaging is so unique and the brilliant colors are quite eye catching. People were also glad to hear that it wasn't water based and subject to chipping like health food store brands which is made like children's polish. Motives Nail Candy is more like OPI and Essie in it's quality, it dries relatively fast and is highly pigmented plus it is free of Formaldehyde, DBP and Toluene. It comes in over two dozen glamorous colors and I just heard that more are being introduced for the 2010 Holiday season very soon!!!

Here's the order of application: First I applied a neutral base in Chocolate Martini, the tutorial used a lighter nude with a glitter on top but I opted for the darker tan because it's my favorite color. I used a jewelry pinhead to apply the blood in I'm So Sexy, the bright red from Motives then used the thin tip on the other end with I'm So Sexy, the deep ruby red to shadow the bright color. The final step was using another pin to line a shadow of what looks like dry blood in the darkest shade, Drama Queen. I did consider Little Black Dress but wanted more of a plum than a black. (I took some photos of my right hand since I'm a lefty but it was so silly trying to take a pic with a righty camera and wet nails. LOL)
