The Expo Was One Of The Best I've Vendored In Years
Well it's been almost a week since the Body Mind Beauty Expo and I have to share some thoughts and photos with my readers. The holistic focused show was loaded with about 60 exhibitors with a good amount of attendees. This is definitely a Top Five in my book. It was set to start at 3pm but I think we really began around 2pm with the other vendors browsing. My colleague Laura, and I didn't sit much the whole time! We were telling so many attendees about the Isotonix and Motives brands that we were wiped out by the end of the night which wound down by 9pm. Thankfully the last hour was very light.

I literally couldn't talk much after that and we both were tongued tied a few times by the end. After all that chatting it up I realized that we really should have our answer to "what is it?" written out to keep all of the selling points in order. And we had a few good openers to people walking by depending on their level of interest. It's so amazing how if you sit as a vendor some folks will come right over to browse but as soon as you speak to them, they run off like a sudden case of shyness overtakes them while others declare they aren't interested like we interrupted them. Most people were curious as they never heard of Motives or Isotonix before....although half a dozen did know Market America.
No matter what people think, you have to engage people as a vendor, why else are we all there? Many services and products need some orientation and as a representative it's my job to educate the consumer. Look, I'm not a big "sales person" with techniques to reel them in with amazing techniques or some glamorous Lady Gaga fashion. The display is professional and attractive with colorful bottles of product and some bling to catch the eye while I look a bit trendy and approachable--remembering to smile, but the rest is up to the consumer. Are they interested in what I have? Although I did observe several vendors that simply sat in their chairs almost the entire time, I think they miss out on a lot of potential connections by doing that.
Do you want to know something funny? Even though the venue was about forty minutes from my house, I got to meet the two doctors that have offices right at the corner of my street! That was interesting. The Chiro was friendly and the Naturopath was wondering why I haven't been in to her office since I am into herbals and homeopathics. I should just get a once over from her, it certainly can't hurt.
The only challenge that I am a bit disappointed about is that the space was much smaller than I had hoped. There was no place to put the Motives makeup chair unless it went directly infront of the table which would have blocked the next vendor or the doorway. We requested a corner spot but they were taken so the next best spot was right at the entrance to the main room. That's probably why we gave out a stack of business cards, brochures and catalogs. My colleague even ran out of cards and ended up using our promo flyers. Now let's hope we get some great ROI from prospects we met before the holidays kick in to gear.
