2008 Beauty Show in NYC Was So Amazing!

Whatta day today at the Javitz Center in Manhattan to see the IBS....International Beauty Show. I went today on "student day" because yesterday was a washout with the massive rain. Its not fun going into the city by yourself, especially in the rain and missed two classes that were for makeup, oh well. So today a friend went in with me in the morning rain and we met up with another friend that just graduated beauty school last year. Needless to say, it was a bad hair day for me, I didn't have time to iron my hair and the humidity didn't help any.

There were so many interesting people there. I tell ya the Beauty Industry is so eclectic and diverse, just watching the crowd was mesmerizing. Not once did I detect any competitive attitudes among all the divas and fashionistas. hehe Only the famous stylists up on the stage doing those crazy hair shows were all about the drama. I have to admit that I've got a slight headache from all the lights and music blasting from every stage. It was a fun day though.......wish I had more cash to buy more beauty supplies at awesome deals.

No sign of any makeup companies at IBS like you'd hope to see like MAC or Bobbi Brown, just A LOT of hair care companies and suppliers. That would be so cool. I really should make it in to The Makeup Show and check that out, but I have a class on the 18th so maybe I'll get there the next day.

I picked up a makeup book called Asian Faces, which is something I was wanting to get. I didn't see a Women of Color book but I know where to get it. I also got a makeup artist tool belt that I've wanted for a while too, and I got a bunch of disposables including these adorable little mini-kabuki brushes!! They are so cute!!

Let's see now, I also watched Eve Pearl do a makeup application at her booth. She's got an excellent book "Plastic Surgery Without the Surgery" that I've had for at least two years. Great info!! She's also got a few tutorials on YouTube.

And late in the day I took in a class titled Making a Million by 45, which was geared toward teaching beauty pros to invest and not just spend or rack up debt with credit cards or loans just to look great. I think he lost the crowd halfway through and should've tied in the concept of turning some of the salon or stylist cash income into investments since they don't get a pension or have 401K's like a major company. They need residuals!! And that's something MA offers by having them carry our products. They can earn some retail (not as much markup as they're used to) and get additional back end commissions & bonuses on an organization that will grow with time which generates the lifetime passive income the Beauty Industry needs.

Maybe I should plan to include that in my trainings? hmmm

I'll add pics later..........
