Spring Had Better Be Here To Stay!
Even though today is the first day of Spring, its chilly & windy. I'm really feeling the need to get outside and do some gardening. All the rain yesterday made everything so soggy and muddy that even doing some bulbs is out of the question for now. The soil has to dry out a bit first. I guess I should make some plans for adding new flowers and perennials around our property. I keep that in a notebook so that I can look back and see what I did that did or didn't work. Sometimes the plantings I want are all gone, like last year's Pansies, I couldn't find them anywhere(!!) and my book reminds me of plans like that which didn't even get a chance.
Saved a few bottles of GlobalCare Plant Power from last fall to encourage the deep root growth for whichever plants I get started with. And I think I should've pruned those Peace Roses on the trellis, I see the stalks getting green but it is overgrown. Hope its not too late to trim it a little. The garden plot also requires some forethought so that's another area to jot down ideas for.
I also want to spruce up the front of the house & reset stones for our little waterfall that my husband & I made a few years ago. No fish or turtle in there, everyone asks, we just know the raccoons will get them. Gotta get to Home Depot online to see what they have for this season. They're website is quite extensive and I can order my plants via the MA portal link. I do want try to put waterplants in it this year, maybe that will help keep it cleaner. The sound of cascading water is so soothing while we sit on the front patio and bbq. It also helps drown out the neighbors pool parties and reminds me of going to the Catskills or Poconos. I'll post pics with before and afters.
Come to think of it, I should visit the Nursery partners too and my favorites, Gardener's Supply Company & Plow and Hearth. If you've got the green thumb itch too here's a quick link to the MA Partner Directory, just search in the Home & Garden category to see all the stores.
