The HBA Show At Javitz
Yesterday I attended the HBA (Health & Beauty...Assoc.??) Expo at the Javitz Center in NYC. One of my trainer's suppliers sent out a complimentary pass to attend which helped alot since its $75 a ticket so I only had to pay for parking. Now NYC parking lots are pricey and right at the Javitz entry its $50 flat rate for the event or if you go two or three blocks away then it went down to rates that start at $12.50, which is what I did. I spent $16 on my car plus a tip and lunch.
This expo is extremely different from the IBS show. That was all hairstylists, makeup artists and spa/salon owners. This HBA eventis mostly corporate with lots of suits strolling around. No divas or primadonnas and it was "quiet", no wild shows and music blasting with speakers talking on head mics about the cut or color they're making a model submit to.
It was primarily for suppliers & manufacturers and had tons of packaging and bottling companies. I did introduce myself to our disposables supplier and thanked the rep for the pass... I think its called Qosmedix, with medical grade latex-free applicators, wands and all that stuff. There was nothing to purchase anywhere so I walked thru in about an hour, ya know, it took me longer to find the parking lot than to check out the event...honestly!!
I missed catching up with our Motives team. They went at least two hours earlier than myself, but that's okay I still kinda feel like an outsider and am not official with paperwork or notification from MA corporate. I always feel like I'm just outside of the loop, but I think that's what gives me my unique perspective on things.
Wish I knew who all of our manufacturers are for our skincare and makeup. I have an idea about the cosmetics & foundation but the skincare and anti-aging stuff is beyond me at this point. That's proprietary anyhow so only recently have I found out who they may be. They'd be great companies to invest in for sure.
Okay, so now that I have all these booklets from the industry I plan to flip thru them, past all the industry lingo...some in French!...and maybe add some cool pictures to a beauty collage that I have going on in my office behind my Motives director's chair for consults.
