Study: Diet Soda, Metabolic Syndrome Linked

This story is making waves in the news so I had to share a link here for readers. The soda companies are going to protest and debunk the study of course, its bad for business. No one is supposed to slam their product for creating health issues. That can't be allowed. Even if it is true. I'm sure they're rounding up their own people to create a counter-study as we speak.

Anyhow, its just common sense that soda is not healthy, whether its got artificial or natural sweeteners or not. I've been limiting myself since mid-Spring to an ocassional rootbeer or if that's all that's around then a clear or lemon flavored soda or iced tea......but never with artificial sweeteners. Iced tea w/lemon or just good ol' water. Even drinks are a glycemic issue, although I like a cold Mike's Hard Berry or zinfandel......no more than 3 for a whole pool or boating day.

The Transitions Lifestyle System is all about managing blood sugar levels to keep the metabolism from spiking and switching over to fat storage mode. So soda is a trigger as is junk food and certain foods with high carbs. I even bought a Tanita scale a few weeks ago to track my body fat and water ratios.....gotta do some serious work to my body and stay on track with low glycemic foods.

I think we're going to start a 12 week program for our team when September comes but then maybe we shouldn't put it off. After convention there will be loads of new info to absorb so we'll have to really talk about it. In the meantime, I can get serious and crack open some Transitions meals and use the shakes more.
